You cannot change banking information while your return is in pending, nor can you change it after the return is accepted.
If you e-filed:
Banking information for direct deposit is wrong
If you entered incorrect banking information for your refund, you can change it if your return is rejected. If it is accepted, however, it is too late to change it. The bank will reject the refund and send it back to the IRS. Then the IRS will issue a paper check and mail it to the address you put on your tax return. Expect a delay of at least a couple of weeks to receive your refund.
Here is what the IRS says about entering incorrect banking information
I was wondering the same thing will I be reimbursed for filing fees from TurboTax. I inadvertently transposed one of the numbers on my account number it was returned to the IRS and now my tech is $154 less than what it should have been expect better
I'm wondering the same thing because I did it as well I transposed one number on my account number should have been a 1 and I invertedly tap the number to I called the IRS and my check is $154 less than what I was supposed to get.
There is no fee for Direct Deposit into your bank account directly from the IRS (you paid your TurboTax fees separately).
If the IRS is mailing you a check (because the bank account number was incorrect), they don't charge a fee for that.
If your check is less than the Refund Amount on your return, the IRS will send you a letter telling you if they made any adjustments to your refund.

How can I change my bank account number on my return that has already been sent in so I can get my refund?
@Hatefed It's too late to change it. If the bank rejects your deposit the IRS will mail a check to the address on your return.
Hello I need some help locating my check. I noticed on March 9th 2022 that it was deposited but it was in the wrong routing number and account. I already called my bank which is Chase and they said no money was cashed in from this refund and I've had the same bank since it was Washington mutual so my account and routing number has been the same. I need to know what I need to do because it's been a while not knowing what's going on. There are records that I have called to see where my check has been and the lady helped me out quite well by sending me this site. My phone number is [phone number removed] my name is [removed]

If your financial institution has no record of receiving your refund, you will then need to reach out to the IRS to run a trace. For more information on this, please see the IRS Help Page here.
I did my online taxes via TurboTax (4th-5th year in a row) which all refunds have been auto deposited. I never saw the option to enter bank account this year and routing numbers (weird?); however, it auto populated account number/routing number to a bank which is not my current bank accounts (verified) or a previous bank (last year). Didn't pick up on it until after 48hrs and approved by IRS. How did this happen?
What do i do now, as IRS says it has been approved and already deposited?
if you chose to have your TurboTax fees deducted from your federal refund then the banking information on the tax form is the information to send your refund to the third party bank. That bank gets your refund first from the IRS. They take out your TurboTax fees and send the rest to you---and that bank has YOUR direct deposit information.
When you choose "refund processing" TurboTax gets its fees when the IRS releases your refund. Your refund goes to the third party bank. The bank takes out your fees and then that bank sends the rest of the refund to you.
How can I see my TurboTax fees?

Nope. Paid the turbotax fee's via ccard with verification email.
@DC1973 You did not mention how long ago the IRS says the refund was sent out. If it went to a wrong account it should be sent back to the IRS and then they will mail you a check. That can take several weeks. Watch your mailbox and open all mail even if it looks like junk mail. If you still have not received it after waiting for a few weeks, have it traced.
If you need to trace a payment that the IRS says has been issued to you, mail or fax a completed IRS Form 3911, Taxpayer Statement Regarding Refund.
@xmasbaby0 Thanks! It's been 10 days. I've read that i can look up the bank from routing and account numbers. Will this get me anywhere, if i call them?
@DC1973 You can try. But if the bank rejected a direct deposit for an account that is not in your name, it has to go back to the IRS and you have to wait for a mailed check.
@xmasbaby0 I guess my real question is what/how was the submitted acct/routing number populated in there, when i didn't do it? It was nothing like my current info? Some sort of identity theft? Compromised Turbotax?
