Change my direct deposit

How do I correct the direct deposit account for my returns.

Software asked me if I wanted to use same accounts as previous years and I replied YES

After filing I found that last digit of account number was truncated.

My returns for both Fed and State have not been received - HELP

@ doninique012 @donnadinkins @ BobPos

Once your return has been accepted (or mailed), it's too late to change your direct deposit information for your refund through TurboTax. If the information provided is for a closed or invalid account the government will mail you a refund check anyway. This IRS will not change the direct deposit information in their system for your tax return refund.

Now, if your recently e-filed return is in pending status, you need to wait and see if it is either accepted or rejected.

  • If rejected, open your return in TurboTax and go through the File section again to update your bank account before re-submitting your return with any applicable corrected information.
  • If accepted, you'll get your refund check in the mail or will be direct deposited if a valid bank account was listed when you filed.

If you have not e-filed or mailed your tax return already you can change how you want to receive your anticipated refund, go to the "File" section to make the change:

  • Login to TurboTax and go into your tax timeline, select the File tab.
  • There are three steps listed. Click on Start/Revisit next to Step 2.
  • You'll have the choice for in my bank for direct deposit or paper check to receive in the mail, make sure the I want my refund deposited into this account box is unchecked.

Please see this TurboTax FAQ for more information:

@johnm92501 If you have not filed yet, you can change your direct deposit by following the instructions in the this link: How do I change my refund method?

If you have already filed your return, you cannot change your information. You can try calling the IRS to stop the direct deposit, if your return hasn't posted to their system yet (and you're willing to get your refund via paper check).

What if I entered the wrong bank account for direct deposit?

@jbartolo1024

If you are asking about how your direct deposit will be handled for a anticipated stimulus check the details are still being worked out by the government at this time. We do not have information on how or if you will be able to update direct deposit information with the IRS. Once things are finalized we will be able to provide more guidance. You can also stay updated by checking back on the following links.

https://turbotax.intuit.com/coronavirus/

https://www.irs.gov/coronavirus

You will want to update the IRS about any applicable address change you may have had since you filed your tax return last year. Please refer to Update My Information for more information.

The stimulus check looks to the direct deposit information filed with the IRS.  My routing number is the same, but my account number has changed.  I will not file until July 15, but the stimulus check will arrive before that.  How do I change my account number to [phone number removed] so the check can be received.

According to the IRS website, "In the coming weeks, Treasury plans to develop a web-based portal for individuals to provide their banking information to the IRS online so that individuals can receive payments immediately as opposed to checks in the mail."

You can view the entire website which is where the information will be updated, by clicking here

So I made a mistake when doing my college age daughters taxes, by omitting a number in her banks routing number. She received paper checks, so we are good there. I want to correct that for her corona check, will I be able to do that before those are mailed?
