The CPA couldn’t give you a list of items? Will this help?
Tax Preparation Checklist PDF

You can use TurboTax to prepare a tax return. You do not have to e-file the return if you do not want to. But if you are using a paid version of the software you must pay the TT fees in order to print the return. If you want to show it to a CPA my best guess is your return is beyond a "simple" return that can be prepared using the Free Edition, so you will have to pay for using the software. Or purchase the CD/download and use it on a full PC or Mac.
You can complete a 2023 tax return using the TurboTax online editions, and then pay for the online account after completing the return in the File section of the program on Step 1, using a credit or debit card, if not using the Free online edition.
Once you pay for the online account you can download the complete tax return as a PDF.
Click on Tax Tools on the left side of the online program screen. Then click on Print Center. Then click on Print, save or preview this year's return. Choose the option Include government and TurboTax worksheets
Oh, also start with copies of both your prior tax returns. That will show what items were reported and should be expecting this year. Did you use Turbo Tax before?
Yeah .. wasn't too keen on that idea. I think what you gave me will help, as well as last year's taxes.
Thank you for the information.
Hi. I did, past 2 yrs.
Yes, this is helpful. WHOLE new world married w/ a business & a rental. Yikes. I appreciate it.
To begin a new joint return on TurboTax:
You will not be able to merge two previous TT account to start your new joint return. You can transfer ONE of your 2022 returns into a new return, so choose the most complicated one. The other spouse’s information needs to be entered manually.
When you enter your own information in My Info, you have to answer the question "Were you married?" If you click the button for Married, then a drop down will appear that asks, "Do you want to file this return together with your spouse?" Then you choose yes to file a joint return. You would then enter your spouse's information into My Info. Whenever you are entering income information there should then be a spot for you and for your spouse's income information. Income screens will have spots with each spouse’s name—be careful to enter under the correct names.
