Why are you trying to install a second copy? If you have the idea that you can e-file more federal tax returns by putting in a second copy, you will not be able to do that. The five federal e-file limit is an IRS limit, and installing a second copy of TurboTax will not defeat that limit. If you have more than five they have to be filed by mail.
And if you already have a copy of desktop software installed and want a higher version then you can simply upgrade the version you have and pay the difference for the upgrade.
I had a different State to file in and am a dork and didn’t realize you could do more than one Federal filing on a copy of the product. So now that I have already paid for a second copy, I was hoping to avoid it going to waste and also having to pay for a separate state filing. Appreciate any guidance you have for my novice self. Thank you!
Talk to customer support to see if they can adjust the billing. If you needed software for a second state all you needed to do was download an extra state program--which would have cost $45.
No one in the user forum can resolve a billing issue. If you have a question about your TurboTax fees or billing, make sure you use the word “billing” in your request for help. Do not use the word “refund.”
