Amending via TurboTax after IRS adjusted refund

Hi there,
I've been told that if I qualify for any new credits, that I should file an amended return to claim the unemployment tax break, and those credits, rather than wait for the IRS to adjust for solely the unemployment break. Unfortunately, I'm having some issues with that process after the IRS adjusted my initial refund amount.

So originally, I filed before the unemployment deduction, and I also claimed $600 in missing stimulus.

Like many, they adjusted the rebate credit away.

So my actual refund sent to me was TurboTax Expected Refund - 600.

Unfortunately, in all of the forms, TurboTax is still under the impression that my refund was their original calculated amount, thus it's shorting me 600 dollars on the 1040-X.

Is there a way for me to update the forms with my actual refund amount?

To add to this, the line in question on 1040-X is:
"18. Overpayment, if any, as shown on original return or as previously adjusted by the IRS"

The latter part pretty accurately defines my particular case.

Line 18 should list actual refund received.

The IRS is way behind in processing returns. You are not supposed to file an amended return until the original is settled for just the reason you listed.

If you did not get all the stimulus, you should include the missing stimulus on your amended return.

So, I did end up getting the stimulus after it was initially denied on my taxes, by contacting them, so that's all fine.

But, here's the sequence of events:

Filed taxes, claiming the missing stimulus.
Denied the missing stimulus, taxes processed, I have received the adjusted amount, minus the claimed stimulus.
Contacted them, received the missing stimulus separately.

Now the problem is that since I have received the stimulus, I can't just go and claim it on my amended return again. TurboTax's calculations for my new total payout are accurate, but it's subtracting the amount for that extra stimulus that was in the original calculations, on top of the amount I actually received.

But if I'm reading you right, TurboTax should get that updated figure soon? Worth noting that I did direct deposit into my own personal account, and didn't use their services as an intermediary for it.

Also worth clarifying outright that my taxes are indeed fully processed and paid out already.

Following. I also had an adjustment for this after filing the return. I agree with the adjustment, but it seems that Turbotax needs to be adjusted (but no 1040X is required, IRS has made the adjustment) so that the history is correct for next year. Does Turbotax get this info since the return was filed through them? Or do I need to somehow adjust in the return?

No, you can adjust your return without amending.   When you sign in to your account you can select "Add a state" for the return you need to update.  You can then enter any changes to your return without amending.
