We have filed with TurboTax for a number of years. In the beginning, no issues, but the last two years, the IRS contacted us asking for more money.
For 2024 tax year, Turbo Tax said we would get a refund of around $1800, but instead of applying that to our 2025 obligation, the IRS sent a letter asking for an additional $2609.
Is there a way to report this sort of thing so any glitch in the software can be repaired? It's frustrating not having an audit feature which could identify the error. We made several calls to the IRS and got confusing information that did not give us confidence that it won't happen again.

Depends what the IRS changed. It might be a program glitch or something was entered wrong or in the wrong place. Do you get Social Security? There is a question if you lived in a foreign place that people have been missing or answering wrong.
Are you saying your return went from a 1800 refund to a 2609 tax due? That's a $4,409 swing.
Your situation is too complicated to figure out in an online forum like this, where we can't actually see your tax returns or the IRS letters. You have to go to a local tax professional with your complete tax returns and the complete IRS letters for both years. You should also bring any other tax forms, such as W-2s and 1099-series forms. The tax professional will be able to figure out what the problem is and tell you how to correct it.
The tax professional will be able to determine whether there is a bug in TurboTax, but that's extremely unlikely. Almost all problems like this are caused by something being entered incorrectly. A tax professional will be able to figure it out.
I'm slightly reconsidering my response above. Let's take one stab at figuring out the problem before you go to a tax professional. But you have to provide more details.
What did the IRS letter say was wrong on your 2023 tax return?
What did the IRS letter say was wrong on your 2024 tax return?
Is it the same error (not necessarily the same amount) for both years?
Was there any significant change in your income or tax situation from 2022 to 2023, such as a different type of income or a new deduction?
Please be as specific as possible and give all the details. If possible, quote the part of the IRS letter that says what was wrong. (But don't post any personal information. This is a public web site.) Keep in mind that we can't see your tax returns or the IRS letters. We don't know anything about you or your tax situation except what you post here.
