TurboTax does not take money out of your account to pay a state tax due. If you entered information to have the state debit your account to pay the state, the state does that----not TurboTax.
And it is not possible to pay the state from a federal refund. A federal refund cannot be used to pay the state. The only thing you could have paid from your federal refund is your fees for using TurboTax software. If you chose "refund processing" then your federal refund is going from the IRS to a third party bank. That third party bank will receive your federal refund, take out the fees owed to TurboTax and its own $40 fee ($45 in CA) and then send the rest of the federal refund to your bank account. None of your federal refund is being paid to your state.

As for the time it is taking for the IRS to process your tax return:
TurboTax gives you an estimated date for receiving your refund based on a 21 day average from your date of acceptance, but it can take longer. “21 days” is not a promise from TurboTax or the IRS.
First, check your e-file status to see if your return was accepted:

Once your federal return has been accepted by the IRS, only the IRS has any control. TurboTax does not receive any updates from the IRS. Your ONLY source of information about your refund now is the IRS.
You need your filing status, your Social Security number and the exact amount (line 35a of your 2023 Form 1040) of your federal refund to track your Federal refund:

If you chose to have your TurboTax fees deducted from your federal refund, that will take some extra time, while the third party bank handles the refund processing.

If you are getting earned income credit on line 27 or additional child tax credit on line 28 You are subject to the delay required by the PATH act. Do not expect your refund earlier than late February.
That is incorrect. The amount deducted matches my state tax payment and there is an option to click on this, which I did not choose. Also my federal return should be deposited electronically and it has not been yet. It has been 34 days.

Hello, sorry to bother you. I saw your message about turbo tax taking the exact amount of your state taxes for the year of 2024 and the same issue has occurred for me on my taxes this year. Turbotax has given me the same answer you received and I was wondering if or how it was resolved for you last tax year
