Paying the fee does not file your tax return. You have to go all the way through the FILE section and click a big orange button that says "Transmit my returns now" in order to e-file. If you did not do that, then you did not file your tax return. Or if it was rejected and you did not follow up and fix it or mail it it was not filed.
Go through ALL the steps of the FILE section to the orange button to e-file. You can still e-file until October 15, 2020. Then watch your emails.
When you e-file your federal return you will receive two emails from TurboTax. The first one will say that your return was submitted. The second email will tell you if your federal return was accepted or rejected. If you e-filed a state return, there will be a third email to tell you if the state accepted or rejected your state return.
I did mail docs but didn’t know I had to submit e file. What do I need to do? Irs site shows my return has no info available or processing. My checks both cleared for payment.
@Miiott69 You do not have to e-file. You can mail or e-file your tax return. There is no fee to e-file. The fees you are charged are for the use of the TurboTax tax preparation software.
Wait about 4 weeks from when you mail a return and then you can check the status on the IRS site: Where's My Refund?
State returns have to be mailed to the state.
