Advance Child Tax Credit payments were not offset for past-due debts but this IRS FAQ states that:
If you receive a refund when you file your 2021 tax return, any remaining Child Tax Credit amounts included in your refund may be subject to offset for tax debts or other federal or state debts you owe.
Third stimulus payments reported as Recovery Rebate Credits may be offset per this US Treasury FAQ.
If you owe debts to the United States or certain state agencies, your tax refund may be reduced to pay those debts.
In California where I'm in i read that they can't. That a law was passed that they can't take the Child tax Credit and the stimulus money. I know my first payment was intercepted but my other 2 werwnt. As far as the advance child tax credit i didn't apply for it early in the year so hopefully they don't intercepted if they do it's ok since it's going to a positive thing.
@danielg1z You have a couple of threads going about this now. And we have explained to you that all of your 2021 refund can be seized by the IRS or your state ---even the part from child tax credit or stimulus money. ALL of it can be taken. The only time there was an exception to taking a stimulus check for child support was for the 2nd one if they sent you the $600 check by itself.
Any other stimulus money--if it is on a tax return as a recovery rebate credit --- is subject to being seized with the rest of your refund for child support or back taxes. And the child tax credit is also subject to being seized.
I can have as many threads as i want till i feel like i been informed. Since i haven't been informed till your last reply i had to keep doing what i have to. But now i have with your last reply. I don't understand why you couldn't just have said that in the beginning.
And you're WRONG! They also didn't take the 1,400 dollar one. Not just the $600. So now i don't even know if you're accurate on your information based on what you've provided. Since you forgot missing certain details. Which other ones are you forgetting if so any? But anyways i appreciate your most blunt explanation (last one).
I was wanting to know out of my $1400 of my stimulus refund how much is child support gonna take and how much am I going to get back

The IRS can seize your entire federal tax refund for back child support. The Recovery Rebate Credit is included in the federal tax refund and is not exempt from being seized for child support.
How much total am I going to get back after. Child takes there half
So do you think that I will be getting all my refund back

The IRS can take any or all of the federal tax refund for a debt.
So does that mean I won't get any of it back

No one here knows what the IRS will do with your tax refund. If you have unpaid debts the IRS can seize all or part of the refund to apply against the debt, depending on the amount of the debt.
