Have you already filed? You may not need to make any changes. The small letters on Box 12 do not matter. Only the capitalized letters (deduction codes) are important.

READ the answer provided directly above your post on this thread.
will the internal revenue service correct box 12 a if it's incorrect .
box 12b has dd
Box 12a on a W2? The little letter by box 12 is not important. You can enter the Code and amount on any of the box 12 lines. What is wrong with your box 12? No the IRS wont correct it. Box 12 shouldn't affect your tax return.
the IRS has received my e-file will they change box 12a to d when it is processed or will I need to amend.
12a to line 12d? The box numbers don't matter. The a-d part doesn't matter. Or if you mean the Code like D or DD that does matter.
W2 Box 12a - 12d are just the box numbers. They don't have to be filled in. But if they have a Code (1 or 2 capital letters) and amount you need to enter it. Don't confuse the lowercase letters a-d with the uppercase Codes A, B, C, D, DD, etc. The lowercase a-d are just part of the box label. You don't enter them. You can enter the Code and Amount in any box 12.
Here are the instructions for W2s. On page 31 there is a chart for what all the codes mean.
