I have gotten a 4464C LTR Letter form the IRS, what does it mean?

It means the IRS has pulled your return for review but it is not an audit.  They are verifying the information reported on your tax return and matching documents they received from payers such as employers, banks, etc.

what kind of documents did the IRS received from payers?

petergabp:
You are posting in an already-answered thread from last year that won't show up in the forum as needing help.   No one but the IRS will know what specific things they are looking at in your return.     The term "documents" used above can mean W-2 forms, 1099's, etc.   Those are things the IRS receives from payers.  A copy is sent to you, and another copy is sent by the payer to the IRS.  But the IRS can pull a return for review for any number of things, including at random.

If you have a question about your IRS letter, there may be an IRS phone number on it.  The TurboTax free Audit Support Center can also answer questions about IRS letters during business hours.   To get the phone number click the blue "Get Help" button at this link and follow the prompts.

what I wanted to say is, I received a 4464c letter. according to my information they want to screen for identity theft and fraud . for that they may contact third party (my employers) for further information. will  they ask my employers for my social security card? my ID? my work permit? immigration status? etc?

Sorry,  I can't help you with that.  Everyone's return is not the same; there are too many variables.  Only the IRS will know what specific things they want to know, which likely will not be the same for everybody.   You can phone the IRS for more info about your Letter and simply ask them what they are going to want.  Or phone the free Audit Support Center to speak to someone at TurboTax using the link I provided you above, but they may not know anything specific either, but should be able to tell you more about the process.

As I said above this is an old thread from last year that has long been moved to the answered queue.   If you want, start a thread on your issue so it will show up to the whole forum as needing help.  You may get additional comments, and you might hear from folks who had the 4464C letter.  Be sure to mention the letter number in the question title.

You can start your new thread at the link below so it will show up to the whole forum:
<a rel="nofollow" target="_blank" href="https://ttlc.intuit.com/questions/new">https://ttlc.intuit.com/questions/new</a>

When you go to the form at the link, the first box is for a summary of your question, like a title, and is limited to 170 characters..  If you need more room, lower on the form you will come to another box with plenty of room to enter details.  This is a public Internet forum, so don't post any personal info.

Did you happen to purchase the optional Audit Defense or MAX Defend & Restore by any chance?  If so, we can tell you how to phone the company (intuit.taxaudit.com) that handles that for assistance with your IRS Letter.  This is technically not an "audit", but they will help you with IRS letters.

You can phone the IRS and ask the status of your review.  There may be a phone number on your IRS letter.  If not, you can use this method to reach a live IRS agent:

IRS:  800-829-1040  hours 7 AM - 7 PM local time Mon-Fri

Listen to each menu before making the selection.

First choose your language. Press 1 for English.

Then do NOT choose the first choice re: "Refund", or it will send you to an automated phone line.
Instead, press 2 for "personal income tax".
Then press 1 for "form, tax history, or payment".
Then press 3 "for all other questions."
Then press 2 "for all other questions."  It should then transfer you to an agent, but there is likely to be a long wait.

I usually use a speakerphone so I can work on something else while waiting.

If you don't get good info from the IRS, you could consider contacting the IRS Taxpayer Advocate for your area for assistance.   At the following IRS website, find the USA map and click on your state, and it will give you the number of your IRS Taxpayer Advocate.

I have gotten a 4464C LTR Letter form the IRS, what does it mean?

I have filed with Turbo Tax last year and I didn't wait long for my refund to come back. I filled on my taxes on Jan 27 2020 and it was accepted on Jan. 31 2020 and it is almost the end of February and I haven't heard anything about my refund since I got the letter on Feb. 12 2020. I want to know what the status of my refund is please.

If accepted by the IRS use the federal tax refund website to check the refund status - https://www.irs.gov/refunds

Accepted just means the IRS accepted your return, it does not mean it's approved or not under review. The status will change from accepted to approved once the IRS is done with processing the return. If you're due a refund this is also when you will get your direct deposit date. Please click here for more information.
