A call? Be careful----that could be a scam. They should send you a letter in the mail---Contact the state and see if there is really an amount owed.

And...Check your account for 2019. What does it say for the state return? Does it show that it was "accepted?" Or does it say something else---like "rejected," "printed," or "ready to mail?" And...do you have proof that you paid the tax due to Kansas back in 2020 when the return should have been filed and the tax due should have been paid ? Your only proof would be your own bank or credit card records. If you discover that the return was not filed successfully, you need to print it, sign and date it in ink, and mail with your payment.
