I go to the WMR site and it says We can not provide any info about your refund. To call IRS and give Ref# 9001 what does this mean

I filed 2/10 mine says same thing no letter  and I didn't call yet. It's been saying since I filed.  But I heard if you call they will send you a letter if you don't they should just approved it and would get by the 4th . But that's just what a friend told me not sure if it's true. But was going to wait till the 21 days then call.

@reneelacey12345 I would not suggest calling until 21 days. They will not tell you they are sending a letter, they’ll just send it. You’ll get a control number and a specific number to call. So waiting till 21 days is in my opinion best. What error code are u getting ? If it is the 9001 you will definitely get a letter soon.

This is driving my crazy. I filed TT 01/30 was accepted same day...two days later no bars on WMR and code 9001. Still code 9001 today!!! Eventually, I did call with ext 362.... I talked to 3 different ppl. First Rep was rude AF and said they don't give info by phone and they mailed a letter on 01/31. I advised her I hadn't received a letter. She said no info by phone. Second rep said she needed to ask some questions to verify me and I answered everything accurately. She said I'm sorry but I was unable to verify you based on your answers and cannot provide info. Third rep, same answers to the questions and said I answered them correctly. She said code 9001 for me is that I have not filed a return in three years and also because my legal last name has changed since my last return was filed. She asked if I had changed it through SSA. Umm, duh. I answered yes two years ago. She said I will be receiving a letter by mail "addressing my tax return concerns" ????!!!!!

I filed on the 18th of Feb,  2 days later wmr shows no information available, tax topic 152 , call a number ext 362 and mention 9001. The first time I called the lady didnt even look me up , she said you have to wait the 21 days . So I called again and spoke to a guy he said my return looks good and that I would not have to verify. Then I call yesterday and a different guy said I would have to verify. They dont know what the hell is going on and neither do I. So now I'm just waiting.

@steve3583 Im at the point where I've decided the IRS is full of crap. I feel like they have no idea what they  are doing this year!!! So many different answers and they put you on hold to look at your return and come back with some reason why you can't get your refund. I keep hearing 6 to 9 weeks from neighbors' and friends' tax situations as well. Code 9001 seems to be the very unfortunate norm this season and it is terrible!

@amandamoliveira3 , me to this is ridiculous and if they know they are going to make you verify they should send the letter asap, rather than after your 21 days . This is terrible. Has anyone been able to verify without waiting for this secret letter?

@steve3583 @stephen8335 I am here to tell you both, I'm in your exact situation, just a little farther down the process. Only thing different, I've received the letter in the mail at the address I filed under this year. The letter has a control number on it which you NEED to verify. Once you call the number that goes along with the control number they will ask you questions from the most previous filed year, so have all documents supporting that year in hand and ready. Once you verify, they will put it back into processing and it will take up to 9 weeks to be issued to bank accounts. I doubt it will take 9 weeks, as a friend of mine already received his after verifying. You both will receive that letter within 15 business days of filing. So all you can do at this point is wait. Everything will work out, I promise.

It took me 19 days after filing to recieve my letter, I verified last Thursday online and yes you have to have the letter - they tell you 2 to 9 weeks after verifying but most have gotten it in 2 - Ill comment back tomorrow some of us will see an update on WMR tomorrow as it only updates on Saturday

@annamjett , ok and thank you , I've heard so many things I dont know what to believe. Sheesh hopefully it will update tomorrow. 2 IRS reps told me I had to verify and 2 told me my return looked good. So Im lost at this point.

@Mindizzy I dont want to verify,  I have all the credits and filed the 18th I wonder because the IRS is behind is that why no updates. I'll see tomorrow if I get an update or not. Didn't they just start releasing money for the filers with EIC credits on the 27th of February?

They started releasing money for the EIC on the 21st. I verified on the 19th of February and mines doesn’t even say processing. It still has the message with 152 and 9001. I call irs Monday and I they said wmr might not even update and they don’t know why reps are telling people that
