Do you have a TurboTax Online account?

We'll help you get started or pick up where you left off.

I filed and received a 2020 tax return and refund but there's no record on my account and my account says I did not file 2020 taxes

I filed and received a 2020 tax return and refund but there's no record on my account and my account says I did not file 2020 taxes. I need a copy of my tax return. I tried calling. I cannot get assistance from a human being. I spent 2 hours on this and am having an emotional breakdown because I need this for a home bank loan. I tried topics on this community. I tried the recovery link for my account. I tried everything!!! Maybe I'm not meant to get a home loan. I downloaded a transcript from IRS but the bank documentation portal won't accept it.

You have to sign onto your 2020 online account using the exact same User ID you used to create the online account.

Close all TurboTax windows on your web browser (including this one).  Copy and paste the account recovery website link onto a new web browser window and run the tool.

Use this TurboTax account recovery website to get a list of all the User ID's for an email address.  Run the tool against any email addresses you may have used - https://myturbotax.intuit.com/account-recovery

If none of the user ID's received will access your 2020 account, then use the option shown in blue on the account recovery website, "Try something else"

If you used the desktop CD/Download editions installed on your computer, the only copy of your tax data file and any PDF's will be on the computer where the return was created.  TurboTax does not store online any returns completed using the desktop editions.

To access your prior year tax returns sign onto the TurboTax website with the User ID you used to create the account - https://myturbotax.intuit.com/

Scroll down to the bottom of the screen and on the section Your tax returns & documents click on Show.  Click on the Year and Click on Download/print return (PDF)

For a fee of $43 you can get a complete federal tax return from the IRS by completing Form 4506 - http://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/f4506.pdf

I closed all windows. The recovery link just takes me to a login page.

I looked at every option of my Intuit account.

I looked up links for 2020 TurboTax account.

I have no other or multiple accounts.

This leads me no where.

I guess I will have to go to the IRS to get my W2.

What about when I need to file on TurboTax next year and it doesn't have my 2020 tax returns?

I guess there's no point in using TurboTax if it cannot keep record of that information.

By the way, there are issues with the coding on this website.

I tried updating my address on profile with no success either!

The recovery link takes you to a logon page.  Check your phone number or email there to find what accounts you have.  You need to identify the one that you used to do your tax returns.  When you sign on to the correct account, you will find your previous returns.  If you were using more than one email, check all of them.

Since you filed your return with TurboTax you should have two emails in your inbox telling you that the return was received and accepted.  That email address is the one associated with your account.

If you cannot use the account recovery website then complete the Account Recovery Request in this TurboTax support FAQ - https://ttlc.intuit.com/community/account-recovery/help/account-recovery-request-for-your-turbotax-a...

For a fee of $43 you can get a complete federal tax return from the IRS by completing Form 4506 - http://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/f4506.pdf

TurboTax does not have a copy of the W-2 or Form 1099. It would have W-2 and Form 1099 worksheets that included the tax data from the forms that were entered. The worksheets would be included in the PDF of the tax return in the tax year the return was completed.

If you cannot obtain the W-2 from your employer, then for a fee you can get a complete copy of a W-2 from the Social Security Administration - https://faq.ssa.gov/en-us/Topic/article/KA-02501

You can get a free Wage and Income transcript from the IRS - https://www.irs.gov/individuals/get-transcript

Sorry you are having so much trouble getting your account.  It usually is really simple.  I have had an online account for decades and have access to the online tax returns for the past seven years.  Seven years is the max amount of time returns are retained by TurboTax and the IRS.

If you followed the procedure as shown in this TurboTax support FAQ it should be no problem in changing any of your information for the TurboTax account - https://ttlc.intuit.com/community/account-updates/help/how-do-i-update-my-turbotax-account-informati...

Of course you will need a valid User ID to update the account.
