Nevermind. I have figured it out on my own. Because the state of NC delayed the filing dates I filed my Federal with out the state. For what ever reason it was kicking my state out as not being efile. Nothing has changed in years so it was not something I did or not do. Here is the fix to anyone else who has this problem:
Which state are you filing in?
North Carolina
Direct deposit is only available in the state of North Carolina for returns filed electronically. This is a North Carolina law. You can read more about this here.
THIS RETURN SHOULD BE ELECTRONIC AS EVERY YEAR PRIOR FOR ME. THERE IS A BUG OR ERROR IN THE TURBOTAX SOFTWARE THAT IS CAUSING THIS. THUS FAR PHONE SUPPORT WAS CLUELESS AND I HAD TO EXPLAIN TO THEM WHAT SOME OF THAT SCREEN MEANT SO HERE I AM.
Are you trying to e-file or file by mail?

I'm getting the same error. I am also waiting for my state to allow filing.
Are you saying that once the state allows and accepts our tax forms then they will accept direct deposit, or that Turbo Tax is forcing us to pay $20 for e-file to get the direct deposit feature?
@MyTechGuy We cannot tell from your post whether you are using the CD/download or online software. If you are using the CD/download there is always a fee to e-file the state. Always. The state e-file fee is $20 and increases to $25 after March 1. You can avoid that state e-file fee if you print and mail the state.
As to whether your state forms are ready.....click Review to see if you are waiting for forms. The state cannot be accepted until the IRS accepts your federal e-file. The IRS will begin to accept/reject federal returns on January 23.
I am using the CD/download version.
I understand that there is always a fee for state e-file, however, in the past when I printed and mailed the state they directly deposited the refund. I'm reading this error message as saying that won't happen this year.
Do I simply wait until January 23 for this error message to clear itself up?
I do not see "Review" anywhere in TurboTax. Where should I be looking for this?
Thank you for all of your help.
What is the fix then??????
You are posting on an old thread. Can you explain what problem you are having or what your question is?
And here we are two years later with the same problem. I am not using TurboTax Online, but downloaded the software. I've never had this problem before.
This is being looked into, but some users have been able to work around this by going to the app and adding their direct deposit information.
Any other solutions? Direct deposit information is entered correctly on both federal and state. Still get an error on the state.
