I am charged for premium services fee which I am not using. I want my money back for that service.

I am charged for for premium services fee but I won't use it. I have already chosen to pay with credit card and TurboTax tricked me into paying for premium services fee. I want my money back for that extra fee.

If you paid with your credit card and not with your return, please contact our Product Support line for a refund. Make sure to phrase your question as a "Billing Issue" and not a "Refund" because of the way our system directs calls.

If you're using TurboTax Online:

  1. Start by signing in to your account (if you aren't already). Why do I need to sign in?
  2. Click Contact in the upper-right corner of your screen.
  3. Ask your question, and then:
    • Post it to our community of experts; or
    • Talk one-on-one with a live TurboTax Expert, CPA, or enrolled agent (requires the PLUS add-on if using Federal Free Edition).

If you're using the TurboTax CD/Download software or can't sign into your account, click here to contact us. Ask your question, click Continue, and follow our onscreen instructions.

The done me like this for the past three years. They bait me in with the fre add then halfway through filing they'll slide a pop up in there to where I'll accidentally hit it because I'll be mid tax form when it pops up. Then y automatically upgrade me. Even when I select not to they say they cant move forward unless I pay for some **bleep** they said was free to begin with. Its redicualous is what t is. They've tricked me out of a couple hundred each year for the past three years. Not sure if I'll be using turbo again next year.  Also they tell you you get a bonus for telling friends about th service, I've done had about 18 friends join since then and ain't seen **bleep** but the upgrade options. Why are you still trying charge me for free service after not standing behind your false advertisements.

TurboTax Free Edition is free as long as it is a simple return that files a 1040 with no additional schedules or upgrades. Please see Why am I being charged for TurboTax Free Edition? for more information and instructions on how to remove unwanted charges or add-ons.

We do not have access to your account in this public forum. Please feel free to contact Customer Support so they can assist you. If you inquire about a refund, you will want to use the keywords billing issues when you call so you get to the right person.

They definitely are. after logging in to request my money back I wasn't able to log back into my account for months. so I'm assuming they tried to stop me from claiming my payout in the lawsuit that was filed against them for false advertising

The settlement agreement covers users who used TurboTax in 2016, 2017 or 2018.   If you are one of the affected users you will receive about $30 for each of those years in which your income was $34,000 or less and in which you started in the Free Edition and were upgraded to a paid version of the software.

"Covered Consumer" means any individual, or individuals if a joint return was filed, who in Tax Years 2016, 2017, or 2018 was (1) eligible to use an Intuit IRS Free File Product; (2) began his or her tax returns using a TurboTax Free Edition Product; (3) was informed that he or she was ineligible to use a TurboTax Free Edition Product; (4) subsequently paid to use a TurboTax Paid Product, and (5) had not used the Intuit IRS Free File Product in a previous tax year.

You do not have to “sign up” or get on a list.   The payments will be sent out automatically to the affected users.   We do not know yet how soon the payments will be sent.
