How to delete audit defense for turbotax desktop

In the California Desktop program to remove Audit Defense and Premium Services you have to change to pay the $20 or 25 state efile fee by credit card and not by having it deducted from your federal refund.  Or print and mail state for free.  Go back through the File tab again and change to pay with a credit card.  Then if Audit Defense is still there you can remove it.

In the Online version,  If you are in California you need to remove the Premium Service first then pay with a credit card

As seen in an earlier response in this thread it said to proceed with going through to the purchase screen. I did that and before you authorize the purchase you can review it before confirming. When I got to the payment screen it was only showing the state e file fee and the audit defense mysteriously had disappeared. Was able to efile after hours of frustration.
