You cannot amend a 2024 return yet. You need to wait for the return to be fully processed by the IRS. And the Form 1040X that you will need becomes available in late February.
What was messed up with the child tax credit?
Do not amend until your original return has been fully processed to avoid unnecessary delays.
Accidently selected "child can not work listed on social security card" and therefore was denied the 2000 child tax credit and also the earned income credit. I didn't realize this until after I filed. My child was allowed for the 500$ "other" credit though which resulted in me owing 833$ to federal and getting like a 4700$ state return
How do I know if it is fully processed? It does say accepted
You can sign-up for an IRS Online account.
That would allow you to view the status of the return.
Or, if you are expecting a refund, getting that refund would indicate that the return had been processed.
I am not expecting a federal return because I owe 833 but I want to refile so I can claim the child and eic so I get a 2000+$ refund
If your federal return has been accepted, and you are not expecting a refund, you can amend as soon as the federal amended tax return form 1040-X is available for filing in TurboTax. Use this tool to check availability of forms, including 1040X: Tax form availability
