How do I get proof - ideally in an official-looking PDF - that my Turbotax online federal return was submitted to the IRS?

I will need proof for a government agency that my TurboTax online return was submitted to the IRS. Ideally, this would be in the form of an official form or be included in the printout of my tax return.

There will be an Electronic Postmark Report included with the tax return which will show the date/time the federal tax return was transmitted and the date the IRS accepted the tax return, if accepted.  You will need to use Print Center and the option for all worksheets.

To access your current or prior year online tax returns sign onto the TurboTax website with the User ID you used to create the account - https://myturbotax.intuit.com/

When you sign onto your online account and land on the Tax Home web page, scroll down and click on Add a state. 

This will take you back to the 2021 online tax return.

Click on Tax Tools on the left side of the online program screen.  Then click on Print Center.  Then click on Print, save or preview this year's return.  Choose the option Include government and TurboTax worksheets

If that is not sufficient then you will have to wait for the IRS to process the tax return that was filed and then get an IRS transcript of the return -  https://www.irs.gov/individuals/get-transcript

When you e-file your federal return you will receive two emails from TurboTax.  The first one will say that your return was submitted.  The second email will tell you if your federal return was accepted or rejected.  If you e-filed a state return, there will be a third email to tell you if the state accepted or rejected your state return.

Your return's electronic filing status history records all e-filing activity related to the return, including the Electronic Postmark. You can print it out if needed.

TurboTax CD/Download software

(Windows) From the TurboTax File menu, select Electronic Filing > Show Electronic Filing Status History.
(Mac) From the TurboTax File menu, select Check E-Filing Status.

While this is a rather convoluted way to get to a printed version of all my tax return documents, it works. Thanks!
