How to Access prior year online returns
https://ttlc.intuit.com/community/prior-year-return/help/how-do-i-access-my-prior-year-return/00/270...
If you can't get the side menus to open up to access the prior year..... You need to start entering some basic Personal Info in 2021 for the side menu to open up. Just continue a little ways into 2021.
If you used the Desktop CD/Download program then the only copy is on your computer and not saved or stored online. So you need to make and keep your own backups.
If you did not prepare a 2019 New York tax return, you cannot use TurboTax Online to prepare it now. You have to use the CD/Download TurboTax software for 2019. If you used the CD/Download TurboTax software for your 2019 federal tax return, and you still have the software installed, just open your federal return and click the State Taxes tab to start your state return. If you used TurboTax Online for your 2019 federal tax return, you can purchase a download of the 2019 software at the following link.
You might get a better price if you can find a reputable online seller that still has TurboTax for 2019 in stock.
The CD/Download TurboTax software can only be used on a Windows or Mac computer, not on a mobile device or a Chromebook.
After you install the 2019 TurboTax software, you will have to download the state program from within TurboTax.
You will need the .tax2019 file for your 2019 federal tax return. You can download it from TurboTax Online. After you download the .tax2019 file, OPEN it in the TurboTax software. (You do not transfer or import it.)
Tax returns for past years cannot be e-filed. You will have to print your 2019 New York tax return, sign it, and file it by mail.
