How can I print out estimated tax vouchers after filing? I didn't select the option to print before I filed, as I did not see it.

They will be in with the copy of your return.  They should be in the regular pdf file, but if not, choose the All Forms option below.  You will download a pdf and then you can select just the Form 1040ES vouchers for printing (or print your whole return if you wish).  Follow the steps below (these steps are for online users) -

  • Log into your account
  • Hit the Taxes tab and select My Tax Timeline in the dropdown menu
  • You should see your 2016 Federal and State returns and their statuses
  • Scroll down towards the bottom until you reach the section Some Other Things You Can Do
  • You will have three options that are relevant to saving/printing your return, I would do all three just to be safe:
  • Choose Download / Print Return (pdf):  This saves a copy of the pdf of your return that includes all forms required for filing.
  • Choose Download All Forms and Worksheets:  This saves a more expansive copy of your return that includes all the forms and worksheets TurboTax used to compute your return even if they aren't sent to the IRS (this can be 100+pages so don't print it unless really want to)

Also, you can make estimated payments directly online without the vouchers (you might want to do this if you decide to change the amount you wish to pay based on your income during the year).  I have also included a link to blank vouchers below for the same purpose.

https://www.irs.gov/payments (direct payment option)

https://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/f1040es.pdf  (payment vouchers are on pages 9-11)

The Form 1040ES vouchers are not on option when I pull up the 100 page document.   I checked that twice today....it's not in there.

Ok, there is one other option we can try - but first, did you owe more than $1,000 in taxes with your tax return?  Because if you are getting a refund or didn't owe more than $1,000, the program will not automatically produce estimated tax vouchers.  If you are getting a refund this year, but expect to owe next year because of income changes, then there is an option for making the adjustment.  I can give you steps to do that.

I paid estimated taxes last year but ended up with a refund.   I didn't see an option to apply the refund  to this years estimated payments so I just took the refund.  This year I will pay estimated taxes again.

Ok.  That is why the ES vouchers weren't there.  You will need to go back through the estimated tax section again.

Here is how -make sure you don't change any other sections but the ES.

* Log into your account (make sure correct username)
* On the homepage, click the Taxes tab and then My Tax Timeline
* Scroll down to the section below your 2016 return entitled "Some Other Things you Can Do"
* Click "Add a State"
* This will allow you back into your return without amending (you don't need to actually add a state)
* This should bring you to a new homepage welcome screen
* Click Federal taxes > Other Tax Situations > Other Tax Forms > Form W4 and Estimated Taxes
* Follow the prompts and you will be asked a series of questions.  The program will base the estimated payments off this years return, but if you anticipate having more income next year or if there will be other life changes (i.e you won't be able to claim a dependent anymore), then you can make those adjustments.
* After you have made the adjustments, if you are not prompted to print out fresh ES forms, then go to My Account > Print Center.  Follow the prompts to download a new pdf and you should be able to now select the 1040 ES forms for printing.

After this, you will have four quarterly vouchers that you can use to submit estimated tax payments.  Also, these vouchers are for your convenience, you can make the payments directly online (make sure you indicate they are for 2017 ES payments) and you can adjust the amount of the payment (higher or lower) during the year depending on anticipated income.

You can also get these vouchers directly from the IRS and make the payments if you ever lose the vouchers TurboTax prints up or you if know what amount payments you want to make and don't even want to go through the above steps.

My .pdf file of the Tax Return which was submitted and accepted did not have the quarterly totals nor the vouchers.  I cannot access the Return because it is .pf file and cannot find the worksheet.
