How can I have TurboTax send my refund to my actual bank and not Credit Karma? I didn’t want to open an account with Credit Karma but it wouldn’t let me finish filing.

I just filed my taxes a couple days ago, and I have been trying to sort this out since. I was trying to finish filing my taxes and TurboTax would not let me finish filing unless I agreed to seeing if I would get approved for the refund advance. Any time I selected no, please continue, it would pull up a box that gave me two options, “cancel” and “see other options”… Both options brought me back to the SAME PAGE! So I selected to agree and now I have a bank account with Credit Karma that I never wanted in the first place. I have also been trying to link my bank account I wanted my returns sent to and it has not worked no matter what I try. I have contacted Credit Karma’s customer service and they have been no help, when I tried calling TurboTax’s customer service line and said I had issues with my Credit Karma Spend account, it tried rerouting me to Credit Karma again.

I was hoping that this was some kind of glitch because my mother didn’t have to sign up for this, but after hearing that other people were forced into this it’s making me question. If this was not a glitch I will be finding somewhere else to file my taxes next year and will not be returning to TurboTax.

Did you already e-file?  If you did NOT e-file you can go to the FILE section and change how you want to receive your refund.  If you want direct deposit you need the routing number and your own account number.

You cannot  change banking information while your return is in pending, nor can you change it after the return is accepted.  The IRS does not allow it.

If you e-filed:

Banking information for direct deposit is wrong

If you entered incorrect banking information for your refund, you can change it if your return is rejected.  If it is accepted, however, it is too late to change it.  The bank will reject the refund and send it back to the IRS.  Then the IRS will issue a paper check and mail it to the address you put on your tax return.  Expect a delay of at least a couple of weeks to receive your refund.

Here is what the IRS says about entering incorrect banking information

I did E-file already, and it has been accepted I have my bank account set up in TurboTax that I wanted my deposit sent to, but it forced me to sign up for a Credit Karma Spend account and it automatically sent it there without my knowledge. I want a contact number to file a complaint to since I can’t change the account my return goes to, because forcing someone to sign up for an account they don’t want is not ok.
