Just heard that the IRS has extended the date for filing and for paying taxes from April 15 to July 15. I already filed my taxes, and arranged for an electronic payment of taxes that I owe to be pulled from my checking account on April 15th. With the new deadline, I would like to be able to extend the date that they pull the amount I owe to july 15th. is there any way that I can still do that? Will an amended return help (even though the only thing I am amemding is the date to pay)?

You will have to cancel the payment and then pay the federal taxes owed on the IRS payment website on or before July 15, 2020.
