"If you are 65 or older, the print is larger. " It's magic!
FINALLY, a direct (and correct) answer to the original question, "How do I use/print F-1040?"
In Forms, select "Info Worksheets," in Part ll, find line starting with, "Print Form-1040-SR...", check "No" box.
My version is the downloaded TurboTax.
I agree with "This is the silliest thing" comment.
I didn't save last year's return as a PDF and it disappeared from my records, so I'm having to input all my data again. How stupid of me and also Turbo Tax for not supporting this IRS change.
How to change SR1040 to 1040 on desk version of TTAX? I am over 65.

Click on Forms. In Forms mode the Federal Information Worksheet will be displayed. Or click on Info Wks on the left side of the screen to open the worksheet.
Scroll down to Part II of the worksheet. On Print 1040-SR instead of Form 1040 check the NO box.
I don't like being identified as a senior because it can potentially make you more of a target for scammers and nuisance calls who want to target seniors. I think its a good thing that the IRS made the SR form available to those who could benefit from the large print but it should be an option not a default without an option.
my cd doesn't have an option to switch to 1040-SR, how do I get it
Yes the Desktop program has the Forms Mode unless you are using the online version by mistake. Click Forms in the upper right (left for Mac) . Open the Info Worksheet and in part II you can check to print the 1040SR or not.
