I was wondering would I be able to file my w2 that came 2 months late even though I had already filed my other w2 that came earlier in the month of March?
You'll need to sign in or create an account to connect with an expert.
You cannot change or add anything on the return that you just e-filed, nor can you stop it. It is too late, just like when you put an envelope in a US mailbox on the corner.
If you left out a W-2, a 1099G, or a dependent, or a 1099 etc…DO NOT change your return while it is “pending.” The changes will go nowhere.
Now you have to wait until the IRS either rejects or accepts your return. If your return is rejected, you will be able to go into your account and make the necessary changes to your tax return and re-submit your return.
If the IRS accepts your return, however, then you have to wait longer until it has been fully processed and you have received your refund. THEN you can prepare an amended tax return and e-file or mail it in. You have to be able to work from that return exactly the way it was when it was e-filed originally. You will need to use a form called a 1040X.
Meanwhile, DO NOT go in and start changing anything on your return in the system, or you will make a mess for yourself. Sit tight and wait until you see what the IRS does with the return you just e-filed
@xmasbaby0 It says accepted in my account for my return it’s been saying accepted by federal and I haven’t recieved my return either it’s been almost an entire month or so
@Ayamey4122 Okay---there are a lot of delays for federal refunds this year.
Sadly, the IRS refund site has been behaving erratically and has not always reliable this year. TurboTax has no control over this and cannot find out anything about your refund for you.
TurboTax gives you an estimated date for receiving your refund based on a 21 day average from your date of acceptance, but it can take longer. “21 days” is not a promise from TurboTax or the IRS. Many refunds are taking longer during the pandemic. The IRS is backlogged —-they are still trying to process millions of 2019 returns; they received millions of e-filed on the day they opened for 2020 returns, and now they are burdened with sending out another round of stimulus checks.
Some delays are resulting from incorrect amounts that folks entered for stimulus checks they received. Many people have been confused by the recovery rebate credit and completed it incorrectly. The IRS may delay your refund while they cross-check to see what you received.
First, check your e-file status to see if your return was accepted:

Once your federal return has been accepted by the IRS, only the IRS has any control. TurboTax does not receive any updates from the IRS. Your ONLY source of information about your refund now is the IRS.
You need your filing status, your Social Security number and the exact amount (line 34of your 2020 Form 1040) of your federal refund to track your Federal refund:

If you chose to have your TurboTax fees deducted from your federal refund, that will take some extra time, while the third party bank handles the refund processing.

You are going to have to wait until your original return has been fully processed before you try to amend and add that other W-2. You cannot amend while the IRS is still processing your return or it will add to the confusion and delay your refund longer.
@xmasbaby0 thank you for letting me know usually when it takes a bit long you assume it won’t ever come but you really made me calmer knowing it’ll come it’s just needs time thank you for the links as well.
