Electronic Signature Error

My tax return was mistakenly filed electronically without the electronic signature for both the federal and state return.  I was able to contact a live individual with my state and rectify the mistake there.  However, i am not able to find a solution to the Federal return for this mistake.  At this time i am unable to resend the federal form.  Question:  is there a manual procedure with a form that i can fill out, like i did with me state, to release my refund.  Currently, my federal return and refund have been in a state of 'Processing' since March of 2020.  Any and all help is appreciated.

It sounds like you are unclear on what an electronic signature is.   When you e-file a tax return there is not a physical signature on the line by the words "Sign here."  You "sign" your return electronically by entering your previous year AGI into the software. The IRS either accepts or rejects that electronic signature.  If the IRS accepts it then the state return can be e-filed.

If you mailed your return in an envelope then you had to sign it in ink.

So the signature is not your problem.

Once your federal return has been accepted by the IRS, only the IRS has any control. TurboTax does not receive any updates from the IRS. Your ONLY source of information about your refund now is the IRS.

You need your filing status, your Social Security number and the exact amount  (line 20 of your Form 1040) of your federal refund to track your Federal refund:

    To track your state refund:

If you chose to have your TurboTax fees deducted from your federal refund, that will take some extra time, while the third party bank handles the refund processing.

    To call the IRS:IRS:  800-829-1040  hours 7 AM - 7 PM local time Mon-Fri

Listen to each menu before making the selection.

First choose your language. Press 1 for English.

Then do NOT choose the first choice re: "Refund", or it will send you to an automated phone line.

Instead, press 2 for "personal income tax".

Then press 1 for "form, tax history, or payment".

Then press 3 "for all other questions."

Then press 2 "for all other questions."  It should then transfer you to an agent.

    TAX ADVOCATE

At the following IRS website, find the USA map and click on your state, and it will give you the number of your area's IRS Taxpayer Advocate.

Let me correct any misunderstanding.  My tax form was filed as intended electronically through TurboTax.  However, due to operator error, the electronic signature was not correctly completed, not done, and was filed without it.  Both the feds and state accepted the return in a state of processing but never processed it waiting for something or someone to correct the missing electronic signature.  As stated in a previous post i was able to get an 'in the flesh' individual from my state to tell what the issue was and how to correct it with the state.  I ended up sending a form with ink signature requesting they release the state refund.  The state processed it in less than 24 hours and i have the check.  However i have not been able to get an, 'in the flesh' fed representative to explain to me the fed process to rectify this issue.  So, i came to this forum.  Is there there a form for this?  Or, a procedure?  Surely amongst the millions of tax forms filed electronically i could not have been the only one not to send the required completed electronic signature form.  All answers are appreciated.  I have a Fed refund due and i would love to get it back.
