On the W-2 screen you click on the one that says you do not have a W-2.

Do not try to enter your SSA1099  or RR1099RB as a W-2.  Go to Federal> Wages & Income>>Retirement Plans and Social Security  (SSA1099 and 1099RRB) to enter your SSA1099.

If you had a W-2 form from last year and you transfered in the prior year info  AND  you did not already remove the W-2 from the income section you will be given the opportunity to remove the empty shell form later in the REVIEW tab or you can revisit the W-2 entry section at any time and say you want to address it now and simply delete the blank form at that time.

Do you or your spouse get any income besides Social Security?  If you only get SS you do not have to file a return unless they took out withholding.

Skip the W2 section and enter SS here,

Federal Taxes on the left side or top

Wages and Income

Then scroll down to Retirement Plans and Social Security

Then the second line - Social Security (SSA-1099. RRB-1099) - click the Start or Revisit button
