Why do you think you need to file an 2022 amended tax return?
No one can see your account or your tax return so we do not know if you need to amend your 2022 return. Why do you think you might need to amend? Did you file the return with missing information, or did you include some information that was incorrect? What do you want or need to change? Has your original return been fully processed yet?
my 2022 return with huge refund, accepted in Feb 2023 and still not processed. Can amend it to change refund amt change to for 2023 taxes due?
Friend says returns for 2022 accepted to OCT 15th now n why my return still not processed, accepted in Feb 2023, but is that IRS has run out of money to pay out refundss, so may as well not take refund and put it to pay my 2023 taxes due in 2023.
@puzzled190 No, you have to wait for your return to be processed and you get the refund or a letter from the IRS. Call the IRS to see to see what the hold up is.
"..... but is that IRS has run out of money to pay out refundss,"
Sorry. but you have a very misinformed friend and from whom you should not be taking any sort of tax advice.
First, make sure your return was really accepted.
First, check your e-file status to see if your return was accepted:

Once your federal return has been accepted by the IRS, only the IRS has any control. TurboTax does not receive any updates from the IRS. Your ONLY source of information about your refund now is the IRS.
You need your filing status, your Social Security number and the exact amount (line 35a of your 2022 Form 1040) of your federal refund to track your Federal refund:

If you chose to have your TurboTax fees deducted from your federal refund, that will take some extra time, while the third party bank handles the refund processing.

To call the IRS:IRS: 800-829-1040 hours 7 AM - 7 PM local time Mon-Fri
Listen to each menu before making the selection.
First choose your language. Press 1 for English.
Then do NOT choose the first choice re: "Refund", or it will send you to an automated phone line.
Instead, press 2 for "personal income tax".
Then press 1 for "form, tax history, or payment".
Then press 3 "for all other questions."
Then press 2 "for all other questions." It should then transfer you to an agent.
No that will not work and cause confusion. Only file an amendment after your current return has been completely processed. You can contact the IRS to see why your refund is still being processed.
