Do I combine the two amounts from two IRS Letter 6475 and report the total ($5600) OR do I enter the one value ($2800)?

My husband and I both received an IRS Letter 6475 for $2800.  Do I enter $2800 on my tax return or do I enter the combined amount $5600?

You will be asked by the program if you received the stimulus payment in the amount of $2,800.  Answer YES.

This assumes the tax return only includes you and your spouse with no dependents.

Well.....how many people were on your tax return?   Were there four people---so 4 x $1400 for a total of $5600?  Did you receive the $1400 each for two dependents as well as for yourselves?   You have to enter the total that you received.   If you are not sure of how much you received check your bank records for deposits of $1400 per person.

If you enter less than the amount the IRS really sent to you, it will put an amount on line 30 of your Form 1040.  The IRS checks that amount and matches it to their records.  A mismatch will mean a delay for you to receive your refund.
