I just found out that I’d we opted for the Turbo card the stimulus will be sent in check form. Which doesn’t make since because the Turbo cards routine and account numbers are literally ON my IRS tax form that I sent. Makes no sense.
Where did you find this out? Because that's literally the debate that's been happening on this thread for a while now and nobody is sure
The sbtpg website clearly says they are not facilitating! Personally I am very upset since I am self employed I paid close to 200$ to file with TurboTax and have since discover tax slayer is like 16$ I helped my son in-law and he was charged a whole 11$ w a promo code! So I paid all that money and will be stuck waiting for a part check because sbtpg doesn’t want to facilitate!! Smh taxslayer will be my choice next year!

Per sbtpg website this is not correct. The IRS has only the act and routing number for sbtpg that’s why there’s a delay in getting your refund due to waiting on sbtpg to forward the money to our cards
@Metamoore34 that is not true . let me explain in steps you file online the fees are to be taken by a different bank so that bank has your routing number and with your permission told the irs to send you money there. ( so that is the info the irs has) once that is processed they created an account to put the rest of your money in and filled that info on your copy of the form for your reference and because the temp account is not yours nor is the info for you to see
@Ecarthen - this is from the SBPTG website / FAQ: do you still stand by your post?
https://www.sbtpg.com/coronavirus-stimulus-payment-info/
The IRS will be distributing Economic Impact Payments directly to taxpayers and TPG will not play a role in facilitating these payments. Unfortunately, TPG does not have any visibility into this information, therefore our agents can not answer any questions regarding these payments.
The IRS will issue direct deposits to taxpayers that received a direct deposit. An IRS-issued check will be mailed to taxpayers that received a check printed from their tax professional's office or a debit card issued through Santa Barbara TPG.
The issue is the turbo tax card isn't issued from SBTPG also does that mean people who had it put in a normal bank account will get it see how it's not helpful with the way it's worded.
@kraal if that is the case, why are we able to access our TT card account before our taxes are approved? Our TT card accounts are set up the moment our taxes are sent in, not by SBTPG when they process our fees. I had my card in hand and account made before the IRS even approved my refund.
Please clarify the statement, what debit cards are associated with this? I think that is what people are curious about.
This link What do I need to do to get my stimulus payment? has information on how to apply for the stimulus check.
I wish turbo tax employees would quit adding their two cents. Everyone has read the info from that link and if you actually read it you would know it doesn’t actually answer our question.
@mrkprrt23 - that is what makes this issue so confusing for everyone. there are multiple paths with different players
1) if you received an advance loan (which is what i think you are describing), it did not go through SBPTG from the searching I did.
2) if you wanted the TT fees withheld from your refund THAT is when it went through TPG
either way I suspect the card you have in hand is issued by Greendot Bank (look closely at the back of the card) as they are a Bank and SBPTG is a non-bank subsidiary of Greendot
@NCperson No I am talking about regular taxes. I filed in February. A week later, I had my turbo card in and and account set up. Refund was accepted but not approved. About a week later, I also started checking SBTPG regularly. Got the message "An account does not exist in this name. Please check your information and try again" (or something to that extent.) About a week after that, refund is accepted. SBTPG updated my account as well. Next day, refund was on my card. So I was speaking on the fact that the other user stated our TT Card accounts are not set up until after the IRS approves our refund. That is not true at all, otherwise I would not have had my card in hand long before my taxes return was processed
Just FYI, turbo tax card is not issued through SBTPG, it’s issued through Greendot bank. IF you had fees taken out of your refund then it is processed through SBTPG. And if you go to SBTPG page you will see the only card they talk about is the Walmart money card (also issued through green dot). So, it’s all very confusing information.
