Can you print ou Schedule D for me to send to the IRS?

I believe you should be able print a Schedule D for as your company checked the square that said I did not need the Schedule D.

If a Sch D was not needed it will not be in your PDF of the return and you cannot force one to be added when using the ONLINE program.   If some nit wit wants it for some reason here is a the form ... put your name & SS# on the top of the form and put it with the rest of the return.   https://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/f1040sd.pdf

The "nitwit" is at the IRS.

for some reason, IRS has been asking for Schedule D even when the checkbox is marked.

The reason may be, a data entry error.

How is the taxpayer to know how to fill out Schedule D if TurboTax does not do it ?

You can probably only print out your Schedule D if you use the Desktop installed program by going to Forms mode and finding it there.
