Thanks for responding back to me. I did talk to someone on the phone about my question. I don't think that I should be charged $40 to process my decision to have my $40 for federal, $40 for state, out of my refund. That cost is already $80. You told me it was a third party that charged that fee to actually process my decision. The only reason that I made the decision to have the fee of $80 taken out of my refund was; because I was having trouble getting my American Express card to go through the submission part. I had double checked twice to make sure there was no mistake on my part, (incorrect numbers etc...), it just never would submit when the button was clicked on. After several attempts to try to get it to go through, I decided to pay the processing fee using my refund. That is when I found out that I was going to have to pay $120 in total. I did not see anywhere as I checked out, that there would be another $40 processing fee! I only chose the Deluxe issue to process my income tax this year, because I had a 1099 G to use due to some unemployment income. I couldn't use the Free edition of TurboTax this year because I was given a message I had to upgrade. The only thing that I could do was to pay those fees out of my refund, due to the problem with trying to submit payment. All I was able to know, was that a fee to process my choice would apply. A person never would pay $40 just to have you to hit a button to e-file, and to have the federal/state fees already clearly stated $80 to file those. That applicable fee to process the whole transaction of $40 is highway robbery. It did not say $120 until broken down at the end, that is when I found out about the additional $40 fee!! I can understand a small fee of $5.95 or so, but $40?!! That is absolutely absurd! I do believe that TurboTax could refund me my additional charge of $40; because it is not disclosed that the processing fee is from a third party until I called and asked for a refund. I will not use TurboTax next year to process my income tax. I will go back to using H & R Block because they have a free edition as well. I am very disappointed with Turbotax, and I feel that you would want a happy customer instead of an unhappy one.
I paid $40 for the basic program.
@alicedawson Do you have any other TurboTax fees being deducted from your tax refund? If you selected to have your TurboTax fees deducted from your federal refund, there may be an additional fee for the Refund Processing Service.
