Calculation errors

Hi,

I received a notice by mail of a calculation error for the state return, for which I paid more tax then due. Then I also went back to check the federal return and I noticed that there is a similar error on the federal return. The information I put in are right but the calculations are wrong in both cases. For the state return I guess is fine since they noticed the error and I got a bigger tax refund than expected. But now I need to file a correction for the federal return. In the meanwhile, I paid almost 90$ for the software specifically to make these calculations and they were wrong. Can someone help me with this?

Thank you,

Best,

Riccardo

Was your federal return fully processed through the system and you received your refund?  If not, then allow the process to work.   IRS will process the return and verify calculations.  Do not amend your federal until the process is complete.  If you find that you need to amend then follow the procedures below.

Calculation errors

"I had a similar experience with the 2024 Premium version. I ended up paying more in taxes, and my refund wasn’t deposited directly into my bank account because TurboTax doesn't prompt for banking info when it initially calculates that you owe money.

I struggled for several months, spending frustrating hours on the phone trying to reach the IRS, which felt nearly impossible; just to get my refund sent via check. All of this happened because of an error in TurboTax's calculations. Has anyone had success getting a refund from TurboTax for the cost of the software itself?

The worst part is there is no way to proactively enter the bank information, irrespective of whether you owe or get a refund. A flaw that costed me so much pain making me even sick of it. Do anyone have an experience of other software vendors who don't have this limitation. That information will be helpful because I want to switch to another.. Thanks
