Hi,
I had submitted ITIN request for my wife on 18th April but haven't heard anything yet.
Is there anyone who had submitted in April 3 week and has gotten the ITIN.
Thanks a lot! Really appreciate it.
Submitted on April 22nd. Still waiting!
If you read this thread someone who file in early march recently got theirs so they are working on the pile up ... I am hopeful they got up to April by now ... patience will be needed this year.
I filed mine on March 5 and still have not heard anything ...
Good news, I submit my wife's itin application with the tax return in week of 04/11. I received her itin# and her passport today.
I submitted my application in mid April. I received my wife's ITIN yesterday with notice date of Sept 11. Refund status still doesn't show anything. I will keep posting updates.
Now that the ITIN has been issued the return is forwarded to the IRS for processing ... paper return processing this year can take 4 months or more so check the IRS site once a week until you see progress.
If you need to file a state return do it now ... log back in, scroll down and click on ADD A STATE to open the account then enter the ITIN in the MY INFO and continue to the state interview. When done choose to mail in the state in the FILE tab and the forms needed plus the instructions will be in the PDF file.
Hi All,
I received the ITIN for my wife.
Below is the timeline
18th April: Filed for Federal Tax and Applied for ITIN by mail
22th April: Documents were received in Austin IRS
15th Sep : ITIN received in mail box (Date on letter 7th Sep)
Problem:
They have misspelled my wife's first name, any idea how can i correct it?
Thanks a lot!
Good news ... for income tax returns the feds only look at the first four letters of the LAST name so you can file your return.
To get the first name corrected ...
To request a name change, send a letter to the IRS Processing Center, ITIN Operation, PO Box 149342, Austin, TX 78714-9342. The letter must include an explanation of the name change including marriage, divorce, etc.), a copy of the marriage license, divorce certificate, or any other court related documents validating the name change.
I got my daughter's passport back(Sent to IRS on 04/23) I did not get her ITIN yet. The letter mentioned IRS is processing W-7. So still waiting. But a lot relieved as her passport came back.
Update Sep 18: I received my daughter's ITIN today.
Finally we heard back from my wife's W-7 ITIN application and are waiting for the federal tax refund. Here is our timeline so far:
March 05: Submitted W-7 to an IRS local office
Sept 14: ITIN approved
Sept 17: Approval letter arrived
Thanks to everyone on this board for sharing information.
My W7 form also delivered to TX73301, not the address printed TX78714.
Still waiting for ITIN.
@kittu1310 - That is great news. I submitted for my daughter's ITIN with her PP on March 5, - got a letter on July 15 saying that they need more information - when called I was told that they need my PP , which I sent on August 5 - waiting to hear on the ITIN and my PP.
PS : My kid's PP was returned around the 2nd week of July after verification.
Thanks,
Arun
