Hello TurboTax person,
I made a mistake in filing my 2021 return using TurboTax. I entered US Treasury interest income on the TurboTax 1099-INT page in box 1 ("Interest income") rather than in Box 3 ("Savings bonds and treasury interest"). After filing my return, I corrected the mistake and filed both Federal and State amended returns using TurboTax. I received the state refunds in the spring of this year (2022), but received a letter from the IRS telling me that on my federal return "The information provided on 1099-INT does not support the entry made on your form 1040-X."
Of course, these forms are generated by TurboTax, and I had no such problem with my amended state return. Is, or was, there a known bug in the federal amended return process that has caused my amended return to be rejected by the IRS?

What was the Treasury interest from? Most of them do go in box 1. If it was interest on a tax refund it goes in box 1. Only a few kinds of interest go in box 3.
It was interest on HH/H US Savings Bonds.
