My son needs to amend his return because the state never sent the 1099-G and he forgot to include it. Though he knows the taxes might be "returned" per turbo tax/new law (but he didn't have any withheld and $$ less than $10K) , he still needs to file that form but Turbo Tax WON'T ALLOW IT AT THIS TIME, so, any thoughts? His 1099-G is only $3840 without any tax withheld. I don't know how to manually adjust for this either. How would you handle? Thank you

As far as amending your son's return, you will have to wait a bit longer. Updates are still being worked out within the program and will be released soon. Please see the link below to be notified when the amendment option is available.

Also, be aware, once the amended option is updated, you may find you do not need to amend as the first $10,200 is considered nontaxable. If his federal tax return does not have any other changes, see the link below to see if you even need to file the amendment. If there are no changes to the total tax, refund, or tax due, you would not need to amend.
However, the treatment for state purposes varies so you may still need to amend your state return if unemployment income is taxable within your state.
