@Rdg13579 The IRS will fix it for you .   Sit tight.   Do nothing to change your tax return.

You just have to wait for the IRS to fix your mistake.   By answering incorrectly about the stimulus amount you received you put an amount on line 30 of your Form 1040.   The IRS checks that line.  They know how much they sent to you.   They will reduce your refund by that amount.   This will delay your refund so expect a wait.

Well to be honest. I never had anyone to help me with my taxes or show me how to do it. I had to do it myself so if I say dumb question or not being so bright my bad. Thank you very much. I know I don't know everything might need to ask a dumb question to actually know.

**** PLEASE DO NOT AMEND RETURNS****

If you claimed the Recovery Rebate in an Error of any kind, the IRS Will Correct it for You!!

There is Absolutely NO Need to Amend, as it will Only cause your Refund to take Even Longer!!

Thank You and Have a Great Day. 😃

Thankfully for us the corrected amount is pending in our bank account exactly 4 weeks to the date of filing.

I accidentally claimed half of the credit (married and only got 1 letter from the IRS prior to filing).

Checked our refund status repeatedly for 4 weeks. It still says processing on the IRS website.

Accidentally claiming recovery rebate

02/12/22

I checked my transcript yesterday and it showed and update on my files processed 04/15/2022. Still no update on Where’s my refund. I wish someone could please help ease my mind with giving me information on when I might receive my refund??? I am so confused.🤪

I looked it up and a DDD refers to Direct Deposit Date.

Accidentally claiming recovery rebate

I filed on 02/05/2022 and my refund was approved and corrected on 03/05/2022 with a date of 03/14/2022.

No. Do not amend. You will receive a code 971 & 570 meaning they will adjust and send you a letter stating you claimed the recovery rebate, and you'll get the remainder. I just updated to this information yesterday, and a week later you'll get a DDD.
