@Dcoop3865 NO do not amend for this. STOP. The IRS is cross checking returns with amounts on line 30. The IRS will correct the mistake. If you made a mistake and said you did not get the $1400 it is on line 30. The IRS will reduce your refund by the $1400. This will delay processing for your return but you do not have to do anything. Sit tight and stop trying to mess with your return.
yeah it’s really frustrating. i’m not sure if i should refile or if they will catch it.
This is what I'm going through currently. I accidentally claimed the recovery and so far what I have read said, the IRS will correct it and continue to process the return. I hope this happens because and amended return can take about 8wks
amended returns currently take about nine to twelve months or longer.
IRS has a big backlog of unprocessed returrns.
I accidently put on my taxes that I did not receive the third stimulus but I did. I haven't received a letter from the IRS yet so how do I amend it on my return? What section am I supposed to click on to amend? Thank you in advance
No do not amend. You just have to wait for the IRS to fix your mistake. By answering incorrectly about the stimulus amount you received you put an amount on line 30 of your Form 1040. The IRS checks that line. They know how much they sent to you. They will reduce your refund by that amount. This will delay your refund so expect a wait.
Same situation here. I will update when I receive my return. I filed on 02/05/22
same smh
You don't have to amend. Doing so will only delay your refund. The IRS will automatically adjust it. Mine was adjusted and then I had a DDD by the following week when my transcripts updated.
How long did yours take? And what is a DDD?
direct deposit date
Do you remember how long it took? I already made plans 😭
Did the same thing. How do I correct this? Do I just wait til I hear from the IRS?

Direct deposit date. My return was accepted 2/9. My cycle is 0705 so my transcripts update weekly. 2/18 transcripts showed codes 971 which is Notice Issued and code 570 which is Additional Account Action Pending. It stayed like that for one week(2/25) and then updated to codes 571(Resolved Additional Account Action) and 846 which is Refund issued with deposit date of 3/2.
