You do not have to allocate the policy. Since you are claiming your daughter as your dependent, you would enter all of the information on the Form 1095-A. Then on the screen after entering the 1095-A, you will check the box indicating that the policy was shared by somebody that is on your tax return.

FOR YOUR DAUGHTER'S RETURN

You can follow the steps below to let the IRS know that your daughter was covered by health insurance all year that was not purchased from Health Care Marketplace. That is all they really want to know.??

When your daughter walks through the section for Healthcare under Federal Taxes/Personal and then Health Insurance, the first question will be "Did you have health insurance coverage in 2016?". She should select "I had health insurance coverage all year".

The next screen will ask "Were you enrolled in a special plan in 2016?"she should select "No" there.

That will complete the part of the Health Insurance section she needs to complete.
