Can i switch from the Deluxe plan to the Self Employed plan during the process if I decide I need to?

Yes.  In fact, I would recommend you start in the lowest version possible and only upgrade if needed because it is far easier to upgrade your product then downgrade (downgrading involves clearing out your entire return).

When you enter an item that requires upgrading, the program will prompt you to upgrade on its on, but if you want to force an upgrade beforehand, follow these steps -

• Log into your account
• Hit the Take Me to My Return button
• Click Upgrade, located near the top of the screen in the blue banner. 
• In the pop-up window, scroll down to the bottom, select Self-Employed (or other version you want)
• Click Upgrade Now.
• Click Confirm Upgrade.
