I was a sole proprietor (all year) and, for 2 months, an employee (received a w-2) in 2016. Can I still use TT "home and business" to prepare/file my 2016 tax returns?

Yes.  Actually any 2016 Desktop program will handle both your W2 and self employment income.  All Desktop versions have the same forms, you get the most help in Home & Business.
