If your stay in Alaska was temporary for work purposes, and you maintained your permanent home in VA while you were away, then for tax purposes you would be a full-year VA resident, and all your 2016 income would be taxable by VA.  You would file a resident Virginia tax return only.

Alaska does not have a personal income tax, so there is nothing for you to file in Alaska.
