If you or your spouse is 65 or older. The 1040SR is exactly the same as 1040. Just bigger type. You can only change the form using the Desktop program.
Ok ... the silliest thing the IRS did was to employ this new form for anyone 65 or older ... and the ONLY differences that form has from the regular form 1040 is that the SIZE OF THE FONT is bigger, they removed the background color AND the standard deduction chart on the first page for easy reference. Other than the look of the form NOTHING is different. This was supposed to help the elderly (many of whom still paper file) to read the forms easier.
Go ahead an look at them side by side ...

2019 form 1040
My professional program was kind enough to use the larger font on the reg form 1040 so that is the only form we print ... don't need to waste ink on printing the "chart" on every form thank you.
in 1040sr some info on the forms are not included because of the larger font size
i do not see how to change the size
What is not included?
Even the regular 2019 1040 return is now different than 2018. They changed the line numbers again and reduced the new schedules from 6 to 3.

If you use the Desktop program you can switch to forms and the Info Wks part II has a selection to select 1040SR or not. You can not change it in the Online versions.
