Hello folks, in the process of wrapping up my taxes, TurboTax's smart check asked me to "fix errors". The error is to check the entry of Schedule X and make sure line 1 of Schedule X equal to Form 540 line 111. However, my Form 540 is NOT an amended tax return and I don't intend to file any amendment. Is this a bug or did I miss something? And if I'm forced to attach a Schedule X without any amendment to file tax with TurboTax, would that affect anything (e.g. will I get audits or penalties)? Thank you!

Did you accidentally start the amendment process on a return that was never filed ? If so you can remove the X ...
How do I cancel or undo an amended return in TurboTax Online?
If you started amending your tax return by accident and would like to cancel the amendment:
If you started amending your federal return by accident and would like to cancel the amendment, follow this process to correctly "unamend" your federal return:
State Amendments
The best way to "unamend" your state return is to go through your state return from the beginning and keep your eyes peeled for amend-related screens or questions.
The amend question usually appears right at the beginning or towards the end of the state interview (never in the middle).

If you still can't get rid of your state amendment form, try clearing your state return and starting over.
Thank you for the reply! I think the only thing I did was clicking into a question regarding amendment but I didn't do anything there. Also, the smart check only sometimes asked me to fix the error, not always. In addition, when I checked my Schedule X after following the instruction from the smart check (enter amount in line 1), the amount I entered in line 1 of Schedule X sometimes disappears. This inconsistent behavior looks to me really like a bug. I used TurboTax Premier version on Mac.
Is it ok to attach Schedule X without amendment?
