Why is age for dependents being calculated incorrectly?'

Birthdate is [PII removed]. Child was 17 in 2022, but Turbotax indicates that he is not eligible as a dependant.

Why is age for dependents being calculated incorrectly?'

A child over the age of 16 is not eligible for the Child Tax Credit.  They are only eligible for the Other Dependent credit of $500.

When entering the dependent in My Info make sure that you selected that they lived with you for the whole year, that they did NOT provide over one-half of their own support, that there was no other person in the household supporting the dependent and that you did NOT check the box for the Social Security number as not valid for employment.

Review your answers for the dependent.

It appears that the tax code indicates:

To meet the qualifying child test, your child must be younger than you and either younger than 19 years old or be a "student" younger than 24 years old as of the end of the calendar year.

Yes, that is one of the requirements to claim your child as a dependent under the Qualifying Child rules.

So, did you check your answers in the My Info section of the online program for the dependent?  If all of your answers were correct for the child then delete the child as a dependent and re-enter.

To be a Qualifying Child -

1. The child must be your son, daughter, stepchild, foster child, brother, sister, half brother, half sister, stepbrother, stepsister, or a descendant of any of them.
2. The child must be (a) under age 19 at the end of the year, (b) under age 24 at the end of the year and a full-time student or (c) any age and permanently and totally disabled.
3. The child must have lived with you for more than half of the year. Temporary absences while away at college are considered living with you.
4. The child must not have provided more than half of his or her own support for the year.
5. If the child meets the rules to be a qualifying child of more than one person, you must be the person entitled to claim the child as a qualifying child.
6. The child must be a U.S. citizen or U.S., Canada or Mexico resident for some portion of the year.
7. The child must be younger than you unless disabled.
