Who you filed with should not affect the amount of your refund. Check the income for 2020 and 2019 to compare income. Also, deductions may be different in 2019 than 2020. Did you move to another state?
There are several situations that can affect your taxes, however in 2020 because of various changes due to the CARES ACT and prior tax legislation, it is a different tax situation in 2020. Here is a new option for 2020.
The special lookback rule will allow lower income individuals to use their earned income from 2019 to determine their Earned Income Tax Credit and the refundable portion of the Child Tax Credit in 2020, since their lower 2020 income could reduce the amount they are eligible for.
I didn't move and I checked everything. I have no idea how it calculated double the amount of refund that I got back in 2019 but it said it didn't affect the money that I was getting back so I accepted it. Makes no sense at all.
If you transferred last year’s tax data to this year's return, your state and local refunds are automatically brought over with your other tax information.
If TurboTax brought automatically the state refund and you entered your 1099G form for state and local refund, you are doubling the state refund.
Follow the instruction if you need to delete the 1099G form:

Go to Federal
Wages and Income
Other Common Income
Refunds Received for State/Local Tax Returns
Revisit
Delete the entry there
Enter your state refund again.
If you deducted your state and local income taxes last year and also received a state refund last year, then your state tax refund that you received from the previous year may be taxable.
Did you get this fixed, and what did you have to do to fix it
