Why does IRS need me to send in the form 8885 and 9862 form

1095-A & 8962 ?

Or did you take the 8885 credit by accident ?

If the IRS rejected the return for a missing 8962 then you MUST enter the 1095-A  before the return will be accepted.  If you mail the return without this form it will delay the processing for MONTHS until you provide the missing form ... so do it right now and avoid the future pain.

They believe you have a 1095-A with your name on it for 2021 so check with the Healthcare Marketplace for the 1095-A form ... they have been available online since 1/6 but have not yet been mailed out.   www.healthcare.gov

The Form 8962, Premium Tax Credit will be generated  by the TurboTax program after you enter the Form 1095-A you received for Marketplace Health Insurance in 2021.

To enter your Form 1095-A -

  • Click on Federal Taxes (Personal using Home and Business)
  • Click on Deductions and Credits
  • Click on I'll choose what I work on (if shown)
  • Scroll down to Medical
  • On Affordable Care Act (Form 1095-A), click the start or update button

Or enter 1095-a in the Search box located in the upper right of the program screen. Click on Jump to 1095-a

Then follow the correct instructions for your situation  in this FAQ :   https://ttlc.intuit.com/community/health-care/help/i-m-on-my-parents-1095-a-form-what-do-i-do-on-my-...
