I have mailed out tax due payment along with federal extension 4868 but did not deduct it from federal return prepared. Is there anyway I can claim the extra tax I paid?

Go to Federal>Deductions and Credits>Estimates and Other Taxes Paid>Other Income Taxes

Thank You for your response. Doesn't TurboTax free edition allow this federal extension payment deducted from federal return filing?

Why?  Did you try to enter it and have a problem?

Yes, there seems to be a problem with TurboTax Free. Per your suggestion above, I entered the 4868 extension payment under"Federal>Deductions and Credits>Estimates and Other Taxes Paid>Income Taxes Paid>Payments with Extension>Payments with 2018 federal extension" as I couldn't find the four options available under "Other Income Taxes" to be suitable for entering the extension payment made. And TurboTax Free edition allowed me to complete Federal and State Review. But on clicking the File tab which is the final step, I got the below message. Please advise.

"To accurately complete your taxes, you need to upgrade to TurboTax Deluxe

Why do I need to upgrade?
You made a payment with Extension Request (Form 4868), and that's just one of the reasons the IRS requires you to file Form 1040.

TurboTax Free Edition does not cover this situation"

Hi, could you please respond to my previous question regarding TurboTax Free edition not allowing 4868 extension payment to be deducted from federal filing?

Sorry---I am a volunteer and not always online.  I have posted a question about this to other SuperUsers to see what we can find out.  I can tell you that Free Edition is VERY limited in what you can enter without needing to upgrade.

Edit

The estimated tax payment is entered on Schedule 5 Line 66 and flows to Form 1040 Line 17.  The Free edition does not support Schedule 5.
