Why did i get more money back last year? Also, when i did the tax calculator it averaged about 6 thousand back, that is a big difference of what i actually got.

$6,000 is a big refund, even under the best of circumstances.

Did you accidentally check Head of Household in TaxCaster? Also, TC does not calculate many of the various tax penalties.
