Home and Business Desktop 2023, when starting a new return and importing from my 2022 return only imports 2 of the 4 1099-R's from 2022. Any ideas? Bug?
thanks in advance

On the 2022 Form 1099-R was the box checked for do not transfer to next year?
Or was the Total Distribution box checked on the 2022 1099-R in box 2b?
Is everything else transferred? Maybe you transferred from the wrong file. See if you have another .tax2022 file.
Here's an idea. Do you still have 2022 installed? Try opening 2022 program and see if you can get your 2022 return to show up in it. Go to FILE - OPEN. See if it is right and has all the 1099R forms. Don't think you can mark one as Final. Then save it again with a name and place you can find. Go to File - Save As. Then start a new 2023 return and transfer from the 2022 file.
But it should be just as easy to manually enter the missing ones.
No, the do not import boxes are not checked. Thanks for the tip though.
No, box 2b is not checked. For one of the missing ones, box 2a is checked, but that shoudn't matter.
One thing though, both of the missing ones were Roth conversions, one from a 401k (in plan), one from a Fidelity Roth Individual IRA account.
The 2022 return opens fine and the 1099-Rs are there. I did try the copy and import prior to posting; no difference.
I shouldn't have to manually enter 2 of 4 I don't believe. Otherwise, why import any of them?
Thanks
Are you doing the more conversions again this year? Do you need those 1099Rs again?
Yes, another conversion in the 401k.
I've given up trying to figure out what Forms 1099-R TurboTax carries forward. My experience this year is the same in that those where I indicated that the entire amount was converted to Roth did not carry forward.
Seems appropriate that TTax would not carry a form over for you to fill out if you emptied the account with a COMPLETE conversion to a Roth.
I have experienced a similar failure of TTax of not importing 1 of my 3 2022 1099-Rs to the 2023 return.
All three were properly imported from 2021 to 2022.
I checked in all prior years that the DO NOT TRANSFER box was NOT checked; nor the 2b box for TOTAL DISTRIBUTION.
However, there is a chance that last year I may have tried to populate the form by connecting online with the Investment Co, rather than manually. I just can't remember, but probably was.
So, maybe it is related to how the form was populated and if TTax assumes I'll do it that way again.
No, I didn't empty the account. 😀
I entered the information manually last year, FWIW
